Edward December 03, 2016 for Model Number MER5755QAAW My oven door will not unlatch after cleaning cycle. I managed to get it open with a thin card by moving the latch. now latch stays in the closed position preventing the oven door from fully closing. do you thisk latch WP74008702 latch will do the trick to repair range?
1 Answer Hello Edward. Test for power to the latch with the unit trying to unlock. If there is power there, replace the lock. If there is no power there replace the control board. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Aiw May 16, 2014 for Model Number MER5765RAS The door latch is broken off. I need to replace the latch assembly 74008702. To do this are the top panel(s) removed, or the side panel? If the top panel, how do you get the cooktop out of the way? Does the cooktop swing up? Is there a set of screws to remove? Are there two top panels to remove? Is there a video or procedure showing the steps to follow?
1 Answer Hello Aiw, To remove the Maintop Assembly 1. Turn power off to unit. 2. Open oven door and remove screws securing maintop to oven chassis, located on the out side edges of the maintop. 3. Raise the front edge of the maintop and pull forward approximately 6-inches. 4. Disconnect wire terminal plugs from the maintop assembly. 5. Lift maintop assembly from the oven chassis. 6. Reverse procedure to reinstall maintop assembly. While it is not necessary to remove the main top completely, if you do not have an assistant to hold it up for you, it can be difficult to change out the door lock assembly while holding it up. To change the Automatic Oven Door Latch Assembly 1. Remove maintop assembly. 2. Remove screws securing latch assembly to the front of the oven cavity outer shell. 3. Disconnect and label wire terminals from latch assembly. 4. Remove screws securing latch assembly to the back of the unit chassis. 5. Reverse procedure to reinstall door latch assembly. Read More...
Curt T. October 17, 2011 for Model Number AER5845QAn Is this keeping the self cleaning from working in the oven?
1 Answer Hello Curt. If the latch assembly WP74008702 is bad, and the door does not lock, the oven will not go into self clean mode. Check and see if the door locks, and if the micro-switch on the latch assembly is good. If not, and there is power to the latch assembly, you will need to replace the latch assembly. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
