Adam January 11, 2017 for Model Number CCG2420B I just replaced the spark module on my cooktop with this unit. The issue was that even after lighting a burner the igniters would randomly for other or all burners. I installed the new box per the instructions matching the wires exactly but the igniters still spark on their own after lighting. Please suggest another issue?
1 Answer Adam, There are a few things you'll need to check. Make sure the power cord is plugged into a properly polarized and grounded 120 VAC outlet, and not a GFI outlet. Check that the burner bases, caps, and igniters are on properly, the areas are clean and clear of any debris or corrosion. The WPY705823, is a "re ignition" type spark module, it has to be wired correctly, or you can and will have erratic sparking. You'll need to use the wiring diagram and check to make sure the wiring to the igniters are attached to the correct terminal on the module. Check the flame size and color and make sure you check the burner operation with a pot or pan on the burner being tested., so that the flame is being directed towards the igniter and the heat being produce is affecting the resistance of the igniter and sending the circuit back to the module so the igniter stops arcing after the flame is ignited( may take 3 to 5 "clicks") Read More...
Paul C December 31, 2016 for Model Number Jenair CVG2420B I have a jenair CVG2420B the igniters spark and light the flame however they continue to spark with burners ignited. On damp or humid days they spark with no burners lit and no gas on. Would a new igniter be needed or should I replace all 4 porclian ignitoe heads back to the ignitor also.
1 Answer Paul, This issue would most likely be caused by either one of the switches being bad 71001083 or the spark module being faulty. Read More...
