Hello Paul. No, it should not prevent the unit from draining. It sounds more like a hose or control issue if the drain pump is not draining the water.

Mark, That is correct, the (Soil Sensor) Pressure switch 8542575 should have an "open" circuit, under normal operation. " SWITCH CLOSES WHEN SIGNIFICANT SOILS ACCUMULATE IN PUMP".This is how the control board extends the cycle for extremely dirty dishes.

Dwight, you may want to consider the fill valve WP8531669 and check the accumulator 8193918 for debris or sediment. These are more apt to cause a water or pressure issue causing the upper spray arm to not rotate. Thanks

Mike, Like any fluid carrying system, when disturbed a gasket or seal, can and may leak, due to disturbing the "set" in the seal. Replace the "O" ring seal/gasket, and you should be fine. Good Luck and Thanks
