George December 09, 2013 for Model Number CTF1826ARQ Freezer Real Cold Refrig Not. Tested Continuity only good on term 4 of the defrost control. should it read on another terminal? Ices up in 6 hours! I suspect The control is faulty. Your help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your help..
1 Answer George, There should be several "closed" circuits or resistance readings when the timer is operating properly. First there should be a "closed circuit, or t least a resistance reading from terminal 1(white) and terminal 3(blue). This is the timer motor circuit and should be present regardless of timer cycle. In the cooling mode, There should be a closed circuit between terminal 1(white) and terminal 4(orange) When you manually advance the timer into the defrost mode the terminal 1(white) and terminal 2(yellow) should close, the terminal 1 and 4 circuit should "open" and vice versa. If these circuits are correct, then you'll need to remove the freezer evaporator cover and check the defrost heater and thermostat for closed circuits When cold(the defrost thermostat would check "open" at room temperature). Greg B June 10, 2013 for Model Number mtf1893ar? Where does the defrost timer go? Any tips on replacing it
1 Answer Greg, To replaced the defrost timer, you will need to lower the control panel in the refrigerator compartment which would be held in by a screw in the front and one toward the middle of the control behind the light. The timer will have 2 screws holding it in place. Make sure that you disconnect power before replacing. Read More...
