The bushing’s primary purpose is to protect wires and cables from damage as they pass through a channel. As such, the material is fairly durable and does not need to be replaced under ordinary circumstances. That said, there are some situations in which it can become damaged. Pop out the old bushing with a rubber mallet, install the new bushing the same way, reconnect the wires, and the repair is complete.
