This shoulder screw is a genuine MTD part, sold individually. This shoulder screw can be used as a replacement part in a lawn mower. The purpose of the shoulder screw in a lawn mower is to serve as a fastening component within the internal machinery of the appliance so that when the screw is pierced through and rotated into one or more components, those components are effectively secured in their position within the appliance while the appliance is in operation. The shoulder screw in a lawn mower might need to be replaced if the shoulder screw is lost, misplaced, or damaged as a result of general wear and tear from long-term use. If the shoulder screw is lost at some point within the typical lifespan of a lawn mower, the shoulder screw should be replaced by this genuine OEM replacement part; the same should occur if the screw is stripped away from general use.Sourced directly from the manufacturer, this component is a genuine replacement part that is sold individually. This shoulder screw is compatible with the following outdoor appliance brands: MTD, Yard Machines, Montgomery Wards, Yard Man, and MasterCut.
This is a thrust bearing. The thrust bearing is positioned between the lawn mower's spindle and front axle and serves to reduce friction during use. This part makes shifting between different speeds much easier. A worn-out thrust bearing will have more room between the rollers on the outside of the bearing. This movement will cause the bearing to move more than usual. When the bearing goes bad, the driver may notice rattling, squeaking, or other noises coming from the machine. These noises can be more prevalent when the clutch pedal is engaged. To replace the thrust bearing, first, the clutch must be removed from the lawn mower. On the bottom of the driveshaft, there is a bolt and washer that need to be removed. Wedge and move the clutch, allowing it to work its way down the driveshaft, then remove it. There is a bearing retainer clip and three bolts that will enable the thrust bearing to be removed. Repeat the steps in reverse after installing the new component. This product is a genuine OEM MTD part sourced directly from the manufacturer. The part is sold individually and not available with any other components. This product is compatible with MTD and Cub Cadet products.
