Heater defroster part number AP5982425. I have GE model GTE16DTHCRBB. I found a Youtube video of a repair of a similar model. Getting the heater defroster out was not a piece of cake because you can not see the mounting due to it being behind the coils, same is true for reinstalling the new. There is a strap on top of the heater defroster that has to be connected to the heater defroster before being reinstalled. It kept falling off as I tried pushing the defroster back into the mounting... Read more

I checked the water supply to the solenoid valve and it was okay, but no water was getting passed the valve. I checked the 115 vac signal from the ice maker to the valve and it was present. Unfortunately I did not know to depress the white fitting on the outlet of the valve to release the line to the ice maker so I cut it, and had to purchase a replacement. The Control Temp is an OEM component specifically designed for GE refrigerators. It enables precise temperature regulation within the refrigerator.
The control temperature sensor monitors interior conditions and sends feedback to the control board regarding temperature deviations. Based on sensor readings, the board triggers the cooling system accordingly to maintain the desired set point.
Symptoms of a bad control temp sensor include:
Causes can relate to sensor failure over time due to age, thermal stress from freezing/thawing, or physical damage.
This genuine OEM GE replacement part ensures the control system has accurate temperature input to function optimally. Compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore refrigerator models as well. Replace yours to restore reliable cold storage performance.

Ice cubes jamming or not dispensing? The stripper comb releases cubes from the ejector fingers during harvest. Moderate DIY, requires partial disassembly.
I am a retired commercial hvac professional so I know how icemakers work but don't know all the brands. Looked at 15 videos on general ice makers on the internet to get clues, and then I made a list of things I wanted: brand new solenoid fill valve, new cardboard backing for the rear that the delivery men broke up delivering the fridge, and a new plastic stripper plate because outboard tine was broken on mine. Next I changed my whole house water filter. (Don't want trash in lines) Then I... Read more
