Removed the back cover to access the fan area. Clean the area with brush and vac first. Unplugged the Refrigerator. Used a socket set with 1/4" socket. Had an extended and a standard socket. Removed the condensate plastic drain from the bottom of the refrigerator to have more access to the fan. Unplugged the fan motor. Removed the two screws holding the fan in place. This part is an ice auger gear motor that is used on refrigerators with freezer units. The motor is the component that turns the auger, which in turn pushes the ice cubes out of the dispenser. If the motor fails, the dispenser will not dispense the ice cubes. Some users report the ice dispenser only working intermittently at times.
