We ordered the replacement part from Appliance Parts Pro and the cost was quite reasonable and shipping was lightning fast! Replacement was quite easy and straight forward - remove handle and the two guides from the bottom that hold the glass, attach handle to new glass, screw in the new glass and replace the guides. This replacement transformer steps down household 120VAC, 60Hz power to the low voltage used by the appliance's electronic control. Replacing a failed transformer can restore power to the display/clock and control circuits so cooking functions respond properly. What it does:
Replaced power transformer. I used a multimeter to measure output voltage of the transformer and discovered there was no output voltage. We had to replace the panel. A few issues. We had to remove the handle from the broken panel to the new panel. This was a bit tricky but our next door neighbor had gone through this same issue so he and my husband were able to work it through without damaging anything. The microwave cooling fan motor circulates air to prevent the magnetron and other internal components from overheating during operation. Replace if the microwave overheats, makes unusual noises, displays error messages, or shuts down unexpectedly during use.
The hardest part of the job was removing and lifting the built in oven out of the cabinet. Once it was out of the cabinet we had to remove the metal panel to reach the blower motor.
