This is a GE evaporator cover assembly. The evaporator cover assembly is the piece that provides cover for the evaporator. When the evaporator cover is damaged and no longer provides efficient protection for the evaporator, a replacement should be ordered. If this part is compromised, damage can cause the evaporator to malfunction as well, leading to more part replacement and higher costs. Normal wear can cause this piece to become damaged. Sometimes if an item strikes the cover hard enough, it can damage it to the point of replacement. Unplug the power to the refrigerator and remove the food for safe storing before beginning the installation. The evaporator cover is either secured with fastening clips or small screws that anchor it in place. This is a genuine OEM replacement product sourced directly from GE. This part is compatible with GE, HotPoint, and Kenmore appliances.
