This is a genuine lock nut replacement. This is a general piece of hardware that is often used on several types of lawn and garden equipment, including in engines, housing, and other areas. The exact application of this part will vary based on the unit. The lock nut is used to create a more secure seal than a standard nut. When properly secured, the lock nut tightens to a bolt and uses an extra locking washer with teeth to ensure a snug fit.If lock washers do get damaged or lost, they need to be replaced immediately with a genuine OEM replacement. This model is compatible with all types of machines and units since it is a generic part. The washer is sold as an individual part and manufactured by Whirlpool. Lock nuts will need to be installed using a socket wrench or adjustable wrench. Pliers, a screwdriver, or another socket wrench will be needed to hold the bolt while the lock nut is being secured in place. Be sure to thread the lock nut carefully to ensure a strong seal and avoid stripping the bolt or the nut.

Replaced Note: new 2-stage fan switch had to be wired differently...check with ohm meter before installing. Also had to ream out mounting hole...new switch mounting shaft was larger than old one. This work should be done by a qualified electrician. Glad I was one. Read more
