A drag link is a part of the steering mechanism, in this case for lawn tractors and riding mowers. It attaches the gear selector plate to the spindle, allowing for the riding mower to be placed into a forward gear. The drag link is also part of the steering assembly, enabling the user of the riding mower to turn the mower. Apart from the cutting deck of the mower, the drag link experiences more movement and more stress than any other part of a lawn tractor. Upon occasion, either through wear or striking objects, the drag link becomes warped or is broken and thus becomes inoperable. In these cases, the drag link must be replaced. In order to replace the drag link, lower the cutting deck completely, remove the steering plate and bushing, and the old steering link. Insert the new link through the proper slots and secure with existing hardware. Replace both bushings. After making sure the wheels are straight, replace the steering plate and raise the cutting deck. This drag link is a genuine OEM part, designed to be an exact replacement for the original drag link. This part is compatible with Jonsered, Poulan, Weed Eater, and Husqvarna riding mowers.
