Roger O Deep Gap , NC March 21, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Top Loading Washer FAV6800AWW My maytag neptune washer would not start but give an "od" code I replaced the left lock switch and no more problem. I had taken the switch apart several times to clean the contacts in the plug, male and female, but it finally died completely. I used one of my wife's emery boards to clean the female plug contacts. You'll need to use dikes or some other cutting device to trip the emery board to the size that will fit into the plug. Slip it in and out a few times and the corrosion will be gone. I used a light sand paper to clean the male prongs. You'll need a putty blade, knife, to slip between the top panel, the part the lid fits in, and the front panel of the washer to release the retaining locks so you can lift the top panel. Slip it in about 2-3 inches from either side of the washer and you'll hear and feel the locks "give". Raise the top panel and the switches will be obvious on either side. Being next to the bleach dispenser causes the left switch to corrode more than the right. You'll need a quarter inch nut driver or socket to remove the switch. There is but one screw holding it in. DON'T DROP THE SCREW. The entire procedure took me less than five minutes and now I'll probably get another few years use of the washer.
