Description

This motor rotor assembly is the magnetic rotor used in SmartDrive-style direct-drive top-load washers. It works with the stator to turn the wash basket for wash and spin. Replacing a worn rotor restores smooth, reliable motor performance.

• Provides the rotating component of the direct-drive motor; interacts with the stator to drive agitation and spin
• Common symptoms of failure: no spin or agitation, humming with little movement, loud knocking/grinding from the base, or cycles stopping with a motor fault
• Visible cracks in the magnet ring or stripped internal splines indicate the rotor should be replaced
• Restores proper torque transfer and reduces vibration/noise when the original rotor is worn or damaged

• Disconnect power and water; tilt the washer back to access the underside
• Remove the bottom cover, hold the tub, remove the center bolt, and pull the rotor straight off the shaft
• Strong magnets—keep fingers and tools clear; inspect/clean the shaft and splines before installing the new rotor
• Align the rotor on the splines, reinstall and tighten the center bolt per service guidance, refit the cover, and run a test cycle
