Jordan, The green stuff in the filter, is not from the dishwasher, unless you have a water softner, and the softner sytem has a problem.As long as you've cleaned it and can see through all the openings, you're OK. There are several reasons and causes for a white film or grit on the dishes, new or otherwise, not enough water, water not hot enough, too much detergent, too much rinse agent, and more. Something you can try, in a plastic basin or tub put a couple of glasses or plates in the basin and partially fill with undiluted distilled white vinegar, allow to soak for 5 to 10 minutes and remove and rinse the vinegar off. if the film is gone you have a chemical problem. I think you'll have a better idea of the problem after this. Good Luck
