The Vent Switch is an OEM replacement part for Bosch range hoods. It is an electronic control device located inside the range hood that regulates the internal vent and fan functions.

Causes of a faulty vent switch can include long-term use in high-heat cooking environments, damage from accidental spills or impacts, or normal component degradation over time.

Symptoms include:

  • Failure of the fan or vents to engage during cooking
  • Variable or inconsistent fan speeds that don't adequately vent smoke
  • Electrical shorting or sparking noises from within the hood control unit

This genuine Bosch replacement part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore range hood models.

Jim for Model Number CVS36R

Not sure how to add to the existing question so I copied it here with the model number that you asked for. Thermador Cook n Vent gas range CVS36R Hi. I have a Thermador downdraft unit that I believe the switch has failed. Does it matter the orientation of the white wires as there are 2 and one black? I took it out and want to put it back in to check again but not sure which white was which. Does the motor reverse when it reaches the limit? I have the wiring diagram and it shows one end switch is NO and the other is NC with relation to the white wires. An explanation would be awesome as to how the operation works. Thanks much, JIM

Answer

Jim, This is a microswitch that you are referring to in which you will test from the NC to COM when the switch is not pressed and should have continuity. Then you will test from NO to com when the switch is pressed and sound have continuity. From NC to COM if the switch is not pushed and the unit does not have continuity then the switch is bad.
