Hello Karen, If the part you looked up for your unit is correct, you just have to place it so the bulb is as far away as possible. It will still discolor from the heat from the bulb, but if it isn't touching, it will last much longer. There is, unfortunately, no permanent correction for this issue since the heat from the bulb will radiate from the bulb and the lens, being right by the bulb, will still discolor over time.
