Matt for Model Number 790.92202011 The wire running from the control panel to the back element is burned right at the control panel. What would cause this and can I just replace the control panel?
Answer Hello Matt, Excessive current flow is what caused the wire to burn. You need to use a test meter to insure the wire isn't shorted to ground. If it isn't, check the component that the wire attaches to or a bad part. If it was shorted, it could be open now and also in need of replacement. As far as the control replacement goes, you need to determine what the terminal powers and the voltage which should be supplied from it and test to be sure it is supplying the proper voltage or return resistance. If it is operating properly, the terminal can be sanded to expose shiny metal and the spade connector on the end of the wire replaced and used as is. Read More...
