This controller is the refrigerator's electronic brain, managing cooling and defrost operations to keep temperatures stable. Replacing a failed board restores reliable compressor, fan, and defrost control when cooling becomes erratic.

  • Regulates compressor and evaporator fan operation to maintain set temperatures
  • Manages the defrost cycle to prevent frost/ice buildup on the evaporator
  • Coordinates inputs from sensors/switches for consistent, efficient cooling
  • Common failure symptoms include poor or intermittent cooling, heavy frost on the back wall/evaporator, constant running or short-cycling, or failure to start
What's included: One electronic control board Installation notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing and use ESD precautions when handling electronics
  • Access the control location (typically in the control housing or rear compartment) and photograph wiring for reference
  • Transfer connectors one at a time to the new board; ensure all plugs are fully seated and harnesses are routed safely
  • Reassemble panels, restore power, and verify normal compressor/fan operation

Answer

Billy, It would be recommended to check the frost pattern on the evaporator coils and see if they are icing up completely and if they are then this will be a defrost issue. If this is the case then test the defrost heater and defrost thermostat for continuity and if there is continuity then the control on the board would need replaced. This sounds like it would be the issue with no changing to off.
