Randall for Model Number 790.96599601 I have a kenmore range that as far we can tell has no function problems other than an arcing sound and electrical smelling smoke from the back. I took off the panel that covers the controller and found what I believe is a burnt diode between the part# and P3 connector. The controller part# is 316462700. I can't find that #, apparently it was replaced by 316462850. Why did this diode burn up? Do I have another problem? I can't find this diode in the schematics anywhere. Thanks in advance.
Answer Hello Randall, We do not have anyway to tell why the diode or resistor on the controller 316462850 failed but the control would have to be replaced with part burnt out. Normally when these parts fail it may be due to a surge or just weakened component. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, December 31, 2012
