BJ, you don't remove the "control cover" to access the cold control. Remove power to the freezer, remove the louvred grill cover from the side of the cabinet. Remove the control knob(slides off) and remove the mounting nut. Label and disconnect the wires to the control, remove the caulking compound around the capillary tube where it enters the cabinet and extract the temp. control thermal bulb from the cabinet. Reverse the procedure and check the freezer for operation.
