Brian for Model Number WR09X10134 Hello, I have a GE Deep Freezer model # FCM7DRBWH and I was tracing back a short when I found that the cold control part# WR09X10134 has no resistance between the hot and neutral connection when it's on. The freezer still works fine, but does this indicate an internal short in the cold control or is this just how it works? I wanted to know before I bought the part on your website if I really needed it or not. I appreciate your input. Thanks, Brian
Answer Brian, The cold control should have continuity in the on position if the unit is not showing cold enough to active the switch. The internal working of the cold control is that when the unit is running there is power running through the control. Once the thermostat bulb reads the proper temperature the contacts open until the thermostat reads that the temp is higher than normal. Then it closes back and there would be continuity. Read More...
