Wessam for Model Number GE refrigerator GSCS3KY The freezer temperature does not go below 11F and sometimes goes up to 17F. There is icing on the evaporator coil. I tested the defrost heater and seems to work fine. Can this be a defrost timer issue? Where is it located in this model ?
Answer Wessam, your model does not have a defrost timer but uses an adaptive defrost control which is located on the main control board on the back of the refrigerator. If the heater is good, the problem will be with the defrost thermostat located on the top of the evaporator or the defrost control is not putting the unit into defrost. Look at the defrost thermostat, if there is a bulge at the top of it, it is bad and needs to be replaced. When it is cold, it should also read closed and have continuity. the part number for the thermostat is WR50X10065, the control board is WR55X10942C Read More...
