Barbara M for Model Number jgb660sej1ss I am looking for confirmation that my specific GE gas range model JGB660sej1ss does not require unscrewing anything around burners before prying up the cooktop cover. there are 2 very tiny metal fasteners around each burner but they do not have phillips or flat screw heads. they are so tiny, it is hard to imagine that even a very small socket wrench would work. Do they need to be removed? my cooktop burners are not igniting consistently (I have to use matches for 3 out of 5 of them almost always) and I want to lift cooktop cover to replace either/both the Electrodes & Harness, Spark Ignition Switch parts, but I am not confident in how the cooktop cover is to be lifted. If I could get confirmation that the tiny metal fasteners do not need to be removed, I would work the putty knife in more assertively in order to free the cooktop cover so I can lift it up to check out the parts.
Answer Barbara, You would not need to remove any screws but will be spring clips that you push in on with a flat blade between the main top and the control panel which will allow the top to be lifted up. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, March 6, 2018
