Arthur Hall for Model Number KitchenAid KGRT507BAL1 Hello, the range igniters on my gas stove started firing continuously. It had been problematic for a few years, with only the right front lighting, via the igniter. Recently even that stopped sparking and finally failed completely. Then it started firing on all burners continuously, till I cut power to the range. I went into it, located the igniter module and as diagnosis, removed each wire to the burner valve/switch to see if a particular valve/switch was the problem. My thinking was that as I removed the wire from the module from the burner, if the clicking/spark stopped, that would indicate a problem valve/switch. I did this with all four, and each time I did this and plugged the range back in, the sparking would resume. Then I removed all four control wires from the module, and when I plugged the range back in, the sparking again continued, though completely detached from all valve/switches. I tested further by removing each of the ignition wires, one by one, and I am pretty sure the control wires were still disconnected. Even when I removed the ignition wires, one by one, the sparking continued. Your thoughts on this please. Meanwhile, I have removed the spark ignition module and the final test will be to connect it to a 120 ac volt source, and figure out a way to test for spark without getting shocked. If I can and do, and if it is still firing, to me, that will be pretty definitive that the module is faulty. Also, I have one more question for you. The range is a few years on, and to save some coinage, was thinking of getting a generic spark module. Can you tell me if the output voltages on these are comparable, or should I just wing it. Answer Arthur, The first thing you will want to do is to check the green wire coming off the spark module and check the connection where it goes into the module for damage, rust or grease. Also, check the connection point on the range where the ground would connect to and clean it up. This could be the cause of this issue. If this does not correct the issue then the spark module would be the most likely cause and will need to replace it with an OEM module designed for this unit. The part number for this will WP4454392.
