Customer Questions and Answers for Spark Module by Ge

By: Ge
Part Number: OEM6061719
Manufacturer Part Number: WB13K25

The Spark Module is an OEM replacement part for GE gas ranges. It is responsible for generating electric sparks to ignite the gas burners on the cooktop. The spark module produces consecutive sparks when a surface burner knob is turned on, which ignite the gas mixture and allows the burner flame to ignite safely and consistently.

Causes of a bad spark module can include faulty electrodes, worn internal components that hamper sparking, or damage due to moisture intrusion or power surges over time.

Symptoms of a bad spark module include:

  • Burners that will not ignite or only intermittently ignite
  • Flashback or burning above the burner head
  • The smell of gas when turning burners on

This GE replacement part is also compatible with models from Hotpoint, RCA, and certain Kenmore gas ranges.

Arthur for Model Number KitchenAid KGRT507BAL1 gas range

Hello, as per your instructions, I did replace the spark module. I also replaced the igniters themselves, the ones that were broken and were malfunctioning. And now the range has returned to the operational level it was previously. But still, only two burners are actually firing, and only one consistently. One thing it is doing that it was doing previously was when I would fire up a non-infighting burner, the functioning igniter will also spark as though that burners knob had been turned. I don't know if it is normal, but was willing to live with it previously, but now would like to make all burners functional.

Answer

Arthur, around the stem of each gas valve, is a switch that opens and closes to send voltage to the spark module which then sends high voltage to all of the surface burners, regardless of which one is being turned on. You can check for continuity at each switch. When the switch is in the off position, there should not be any continuity, when you turn the switch to the light position, it should read continuity. Part number for the switch is WP9751325
