Manufacturer Part Number: ACM73919214

The Defrost Control Assembly is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It is designed to regulate the defrost cycle, ensuring that frost buildup on the evaporator coils is periodically melted away. This helps maintain efficient cooling performance and prevents excessive ice accumulation, which can hinder the refrigerator's functionality.

You should replace the defrost control assembly if it becomes faulty. Causes of a bad defrost control assembly can include electrical failures, regular wear and tear, or damage from power surges. A malfunctioning defrost control can lead to issues such as inadequate defrosting, which results in excessive frost buildup and affects the cooling efficiency of the refrigerator.

Symptoms of a bad defrost control assembly include:

  • Frost buildup on the evaporator coils
  • The refrigerator not cooling properly
  • The defrost cycle not initiating or running too frequently
  • Increased energy consumption due to the refrigerator working harder to maintain temperature

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Russell Dunn for Model Number 795.74043.411

Hello, My unit was made (per label) in March 2015. The fridge is not cooling at all (about room temp) and the freezer is 45 degrees. I've replaced the overload assembly, and the control board. There is no ice buildup behind the wall in the freezer section. There are no error codes on the display. The compressor hums with no clicks or rattles. There is a yellow DRY powder in the drip pan. All fans are running. Would someone please point me in a new direction? Thanks, Russ

Answer

Russell, If the unit has frost on the rear wall then you will want to pull the rear wall and check for the coils being impacted with ice. It sounds like you have a defrost problem in which you will need to test the heater and the defrot sensor and thermal to make sure that they are good. If they are then the issue will be with the main control board.
