Steve for Model Number LGR7646EQ3 LG DLE5955W electric dryer - Cooling indicator was on solid and no heat from the dryer. Pulled the thermal fuse and tested with a multimeter and it was bad. Ordered and replaced the thermal fuse. Dryer then generated heat, but the cooling light was still on. Dryer ran for a short while (one load), and then the thermal fuse blew again. Replaced the thermal fuse, along with all other temp reading components (thermostat, high temp thermostat, and thermistor) in case one of those was not regulating the temp appropriately. Turned dryer on and again heat is generated, but cooling light is still on. Turned it off this time before blowing another thermal fuse. Does this mean that the control board is bad? Is there any way to test the control board before I invest in swapping that expensive part out?
Answer Steve, The first thing that you will want to do is check the venting of the unit from the blower wheel to the outside of your home to make sure there is no clog or blockage in it. If there is then it would need to be cleaned out as this would be the cause for blowing a thermal fuse. If the venting checks ok then it would be a bad control board. Read More...
