Answer Hello Thomas, This is most commonly caused by sticky linkages in the dispense area. This is caused by ice being dispensed into drinks such as soda, sweet tea, Kool-Aid, etc. There is always a danger of this sticky residue getting into the control board which will cause electronic failures. In your case, you might be able to disassemble and clean the linkage parts with rubbing alcohol to restore proper operation.
