A Smith for Model Number KSRS27IHWH00

Just replaced original icemaker with your part AP3182733 complete icemaker assembly. It is very similar to original but noticed the fill cup on new one is larger. The new unit is working (heater was gone on old one) but only filling 5 cubes not 8. I also notice my fill tube appears to be longer than one on video. Does length of tube and new height of fill cup have something to do with how icemaker senses when to stop filling and mine is sensing full too early? My fill tube is prob a good 2" long, original fill cup height is about 1 1/4" on sides, refridg bought in 2000.

Answer

A Smith, The height of the fill cup or length of the fill tube would have no bearing on the icemaker filling with water. You will want to make sure that the filter in the unit is good. If the filter has not been changed in a while then it could cause a slower fill and only allow partial water to come in. This is the most common reason for not enough water getting to the icemaker.
