Donald for Model Number Whirlpool Side By Side Ref. Ice maker works fine,but forword Front Part Is leakin water down into the tray wich is makeing one large solid chunk of ice. Once I remove the ice it works fine, But leaks and will freez up again..Sems like a never ending process. I have no idea how to fix this leak. Thanks much, Help would be appreciated.
Answer Hi Donald. The ice maker part # 2198597, cycles and commands 6 sec. of water from the water valve. If either of these parts are defective, you will get this issue. If the water valve part # W10408179 does not shut off (phyysically sticks open) then it will over flow the ice maker into the ice bin. The head if the ice mqaker has a white cover as you can remove it and tape the door switch closed. See if when the ice maker rotates, that after it fills with water that the ice maker quits rotation; (or is shorted). Thank you. Read More...
