Curt for Model Number Fridge: GD5SH; Ice Maker: AP3182733 We went away for a weekend and shut the house water off. We forgot to turn off the ice maker. When we returned, the ice mold was empty and it was not making and new ice. The fill tube appears to come from the ceiling of the freeze and looks to be frozen solid. Any thoughts as to what caused this? Did turning the water supply off cause this to freeze? What is the recommended way to thaw it? Hair dryer or just remove the whole ice maker? Thanks!
Answer Hello Curt. Yes, if the water was turned off, the fill tube will freeze over. You will need to thaw out the fill tube in the unit. If the hair dryer does not get it, you may need to unplug the unit for 24 hours until the ice is thawed out. Hope this helps. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, October 17, 2011
