David M for Model Number KSCS35I - Kithchenaid Spuperba 2004 My ice maker is not working and the optical equipment checks out. I took the ice maker out and removed the white covering. A white dial with gears fell off. The fractures at the dial connection suggest there was torque failure. Also, one of the metal leads at the bottom of the white dial had a black burn spot. New icemaker? I think so - I just want to make sure that doesn't happen again. Thoughts on what caused that?
Answer Hello David. Yes, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the icemaker 2198597 will need to be replaced. Check and make sure the cubes are not to big, when the new one is installed. If not, the heater could have failed, causing the gear to break. Hope this helps. Read More...
