Leif W. I have a Whirlpool side by side and I believe that the ice maker is AP3182733. I will need to pull it out to confirm, but the picture looks like it. I replaced this ice maker about 5 years ago and it had been working fine. Now it seems to get the cube on the right stuck under the cube removal finger at least once a day. What can cause this?
Answer Hello Leif, There are only two things I can think of that will cause this. One is a malformed separator. The separator is the white plastic par that the harvest rake passes through to harvest and the only fix for this is replacing the separator. Being plastic, there is no way to get it right again. The other thing is an insufficient water fill. This will cause hollow cubes and under-sized cubes. These cubes won't drop correctly and will often get caught up in between the harvest rake fingers and the separator. This is caused by low water pressure or a failing water inlet valve. Read More...
