Clara B for Model Number Whirlpool Refridgerator GC3SHAXVA02 This fridge has quit making ice. On the on off switch on the right side of fridge is blinking twice the pause then blink twice again. We lost power for a couple of days and the water chamber which feeds the tray froze solid. We took the ice maker out and unfroze the water chamber the feeds the ice tray. Are we needing a new complete ice maker? Thanks
Answer Clara, Check to see if the light on the right side flashes when you close the flapper, make sure that you do not cover the hole. If it does then you need to replace the emitter control board. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
