Pam for Model Number GEW9250PWO Control panel is black. Lights fadded and then went out. Light inside dryer is on. Had a repair man out and he is unable to run a diagnostic on it. Only managed to lock ourselves out of the controls but am now unable to unlock it. Have had many storms and he believes a power surge took it out. Is it worth fixing? Do you feel other parts have been affected also?
Answer Hello Pam. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the control board WP8546219 is bad and will need to be replaced. There is no way to tell if the other parts are bad until the board is fixed. You can test the heater and thermal cut-offs for continuity. They should read closed. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
