Charlie for Model Number Gew9200LL1 I checked the door switch using the diagnostic test mode when the door is opened code E-3 is displayed and when door is closed code disapears. The diagnostic test mode is hard to access, some times I can start the dryer but not be able to access the test mode ( after shutting off the dryer ). At times the dryer control button turns the dryer on other times it wont. I tested P1-4 to ground no voltage indicated when the start button was pushed even the time I pushed the control button ( dryer control panel turned on ) first then the start button dryer started but no voltage was indicated at P1-4. I checked the console electronics panel using the diode test method in tech sheet all readings were aceptable ( .5 to 1.5 VDC ) except auto dry ( P3-14 to P3-7 ) it read 2.39 VDC and control on mode ( P3-9 to P3-12 ) also 2.39 VDC. When I pluged the board back in the dryer worked Then later it would not turn on nor go into the diagnostic mode. I'am not sure if I should order this circuit board or not. I am a licensed electrician and work on old cars for a hobby but this dryer is driving me nuts with its work not work modes. Thank you for any help you can give
Answer Charlie, A couple of things to check before you replace the user interface control. Make sure the dryer door and door catches are properly aligned and both catches grip and hold the door in when closed. Check the door switch circuits and wiring with a meter, if possible. Since this seems to be an intermittent issue, your first repair should be the user interface, check and make sure there are no loose connections on the ribbon connector(s) at both board connections. Replace the interface 3980189 if all checks are OK. Good Luck Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, August 25, 2011
