Barbara for Model Number svd48600p I was preheating the oven today and saw an area on the baking element that was bright orange and a small flame. It continued to spread across the element until I flipped the circuit breaker to the house (turning the oven off at first did not stop the flame and orange area). It did this across half the element on the side and entire front of the element. Is the element all I need to replace? There are still lights on the stove/clock, etc. if turned on. And how hard is it to replace the element on your own without having to have a repair person out? Thanks.
Answer Hello Barbara! When the bake element shorts out it can cause a flare up in the oven. The bake element should be all thats needed. Your part number is WP71001680. Keep the breaker off until the element is replaced. Thanks! Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, January 29, 2013
