Hello Tom. First off, open the door and note the different "sections" of the inner door. The choke is the plastic part that snaps in around the glass. Many times, since this part clips in from both sides of the plastic, this part may be damaged by simple removal, so be careful. You will need something thin and strong such as a small screwdriver or a thin, narrow paint scraper. (Careful not to scrape paint. I have wrapped my little screwdriver with tape to prevent cosmetic damage). You have to work it in between the choke and frame and get the choke to unsnap. You do have to work from both inner and outer edges to get it completely freed. Start at the door latch end and work around the top and bottom. It doesn't have to come off on the hinge side of the door. You only need to access the screws to the door handle so three sides are all you need to worry about, (top, bottom, and handle end of the door). At this point, I'm worried that you are saying to yourself, "What the heck is a "choke"? The choke is the name the manufacturers use to describe the plastic part of the door that covers the frames that hold in the glass. If your very careful, you can reuse this part. If your rough with it, the little clips will break off and it will never stay in place without replacement.(White 8206140, Black 8206141). The hard part of this is that there are clips on the inside edge and the outside edge. If you did this for a living you would have to replace about 30% of the chokes you removed so don't be surprised if the clips break. If they do break, I strongly recommend against the use of super glue as if it has to be removed again, you have sealed the deal for the purchase of a new door assembly. Once the three sides are loose, this allows enough space to use a screwdriver to remove the door handle screws. Of course the replacement of the handle is to reuse the same screws you removed to hold the new handle on. The choke now just snaps back into place.
