The Lid Latch Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It ensures that the washer lid is securely locked during operation, preventing it from being opened mid-cycle, which could cause water spills and interrupt the washing process. This component plays a vital role in the safety and functionality of the washing machine by ensuring that the lid remains closed during washing and spinning cycles.

Causes of a bad lid latch assembly can include regular wear and tear, electrical failures, or physical damage from forcefully opening or closing the lid. When the lid latch assembly is faulty, it can affect the washer's ability to start or complete a cycle properly.

Symptoms of a bad Lid Latch Assembly include:

  • The washer not starting or stopping mid-cycle
  • Error codes related to lid lock issues
  • The lid not locking or unlocking properly
  • The washer pausing unexpectedly during operation

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Jeramie for Model Number 7EWTW1300YMO

I have a whirlpool washer, when started is senses then the lid lock light flashes and it stops the process then after about ten mins it starts filling with water like it should. then it stops on the spin cycle and wont do anything. so i push the start button and the lid locks then the lid lock light flashes and you can hear the drain pump kick on and drain, but it will not spin and the lid lock light continues to flash and nothing happens. What is the problem?

Answer

Jeramie, This issue sounds like it could be caused by a faulty latch assembly. Even if the door latches the unit is not see that it is and this could be a faulty enable switch in the latch. The best option would be to put the unit into a diagnostic mode per the tech sheet located in the control panel. Look for any stored error codes that would tell what may be causing the issue and follow the steps for testing that part, which would also be on the tech sheet.
