Angie for Model Number Whirlpool WMH31017FB-0

I have a whirlpool microwave over the stove, that I purchasejust over a year ago. the bulb blew, but when I tried to remove it, the glass portion of the bulb separated from the socket. because the angle of the bulb is on the 'shorter' side of the opening, I am having an issue trying to access the remaining part of the bulb to remove. Any suggestions? (it is just like the one in the video http://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-light-bulb-8206232a-ap4512653.html

Answer

Angie, Once you remove power, the light lens, use a small pair of needle nose pliers, insert the end of the pliers into the remaining socket, spread the handles and turn the pliers counter clockwise, and carefully unscrew the socket. When you install the new bulb, apply a dab of dielectric grease or "vaseline" on the threads of the metal socket and screw the bulb back in, do not overtighten the bulb. return the len cover and restore power.
