Pat for Model Number wmh32517at2 The bulb in my microwave has burned out again and I cannot remove the base of the bulb from the socket. Removing the metal base of the bulb that separates from the glass head using a needle nose is impossible. There is not enough room for the handles of the pliers. The bulb is facing away from the front of the box it is built into. I am reordering 2 bulbs. I will apply some vaseline on the metal base on my new bulb when I screw the bulb.
Answer Hello Pat, If you unplug the unit and remove the ten screws around the perimeter of the bottom of the unit, the bottom plate will lower to provide access to the light sockets. This will allow ample room to use needlenosed pliers for removal of the base of the bulbs. If lubricant is used, I would be sure to use a dielectric such as White Lithium Grease WP20000030 to prevent the possibility of shorting the circuit and causing issues with the power supply on the board.
