Matt for Model Number mdbh989awq3 My 3.5 year old, Maytag mdbh989awq3 will not turn on. None of the buttons on the touch pad will respond to touch or light up. How do I know whether the control panel is the problem or if the electronic control is the issue? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks, Matt
Answer Hello Matt, This is most likely a power supply issue. Go to the breaker box and flip the breaker for the dishwasher off then back on. If this doesn't clear the issue, remove the kick panel and the cover on the electrical connection and check for burned wire nuts. If none, use your test meter to test for 120Vac. If it is not here, the issue is in the wiring before it ever gets to the dishwasher. If it is there, check the door switches and the thermal fuse. If the thermal fuse is at fault, do not replace it until you have checked the motor winding resistance as per the tech sheet behind the kick panel. Make sure there is no shorts with the test meter also. This is, of course, to prevent blowing a new thermal fuse. Let us know if further assistance is needed. Read More...
