Barbara H. for Model Number Whirlpool ED2FHG side by side refrigerator We are getting an RO system for water filtration and will not need the refrigerator water filter. Is there a cover or filter blank that I will need to use in place of the filter? If so, what is the part number? Thanks
Answer Hello Barbara, While the unit should dispense unfiltered water normally by simply removing the filter, it is not recommended to connect the refrigerator to an RO system since it takes a minimum of 40 to 120 lbs, of water pressure to properly close the water valve. An RO system commonly drops water pressure to about 20 lbs. of water pressure so this will normally cause the water valve to close too slowly which overfills the icemaker and will cause a dribble from the water dispenser after dispensing the water.
