John, You can try and "pull" the support out with a pair of needle nose pliers, but it's not very succesful or cosmetically satisfactory after the repair. The ideal situation is to remove the unit from the cabinet, remove the outer cabinet and use a pair of needle nose pliers to collapse the retainer tabs, and "push" the support out, into the cavity.
