Symptoms that may indicate a faulty flame sensor include:

  • The dryer not heating or producing heat properly

Bob D for Model Number Kenmore 11074972300 (11 yrs. old)

Hi, I installed the flame sensor per your advice. I have also installed a 3392519 thermal fuse, 8577274 thermistor, 3403140 high limit t-stat and 279834 valve coils. The burner lights off just fine, but when the igniter shuts down (flame proven) the gas valve shuts down too. The whole vent system is clean as well as the blower blades. Have good air flow. Not sure what to do now. Maybe jack this dryer up and put another one under it due to age? Thank you for your help.

Answer

Bob, Are you sure you have proper gas flow and pressure to the gas valve ? Then check and make sure the burner flame is large enough to partially encompass the igniter, or make sure the igniter is properly positioned on the mounting plate at the end of the burner. The igniter must be encompassed by the burner flame(so theres an orange glow to it) in order to maintain the low resistance and keep the coils energized during the burn process. Good Luck and Thanks
