Paul G. for Model Number ed25lfxgw00

Hello, Recently I purchased icemaker 4317943 on order 4090856 as our ice maker quit working. The new icemaker works but the cubes are now hollow. I looked on your site and some other sites and it said the valve might be bad so I bought valve w10408179 from you and installed it. We still have hollow ice cubes. How do I adjust the fill level on the ice maker? Our unit is hooked up to a reverse osmosis system as we are on a well and have nasty tasting water otherwise. Lastly, the flow level coming out of the dispenser has never been fast. I was hoping that replacing the valve might fix that. Are there any fittings I can drill out besides the one where the copper tubing connects to the refrigerator? I drilled that out and the water flow is still slow and the ice cubes are still hollow. Thanks

Answer

Hello Paul. Set the freezer temp between 0 to 5°. Hollow cubes are a sign of wrong temp in freezer.

Answer

Hello Paul, The reduced water pressure from the reverse osmosis system is the cause of your issue. Without bypassing it to increase the water pressure, you would have to install a reverse osmosis booster pump to restore the required water pressure to the icemaker. This should be installed to accommodate the reverse osmosis system and meet the minimum water pressure required for the icemaker, (a minimum of 45 PSI is stated by the manufacturer).
