Union J. for Model Number M1TXEGMYB01 Our ice maker stopped making ice two days ago and back wall of freezer vents icing up! I unplugged for 2 hours and plugged back in still not making ice. I had to have an appliance repair person install the water line because Sears people said they did not do this! We have no way to tell whether the water valve may be off or on after attempting to turn it both ways?
Answer Hello Union, You will need to pull the unit out and access the wires to the water valve whose output water line leads to the icemaker. Pull the wiring connector off of the valve and insert the probes from your test meter set to ac voltage. You will be looking for 120Vac near the end of the cycle. Some units require the door switches be closed for the voltage to pass to the icemaker so it can be forced to cycle. To force a cycle, use an insulated jumper lead from T to H on the front of the icemaker after the white cover has been removed. These are actually the two openings on the front of the icemaker module that are closest together. IF the vents are stopping up you should also check for a possible air leak or defrost issue.
