Tom for Model Number Amana AFI2538AES Answers (as it seems is everything to do with this problem) are confusing. First, how does a part (AP4070209) that sticks out 1 1/2 inches from the liner replace a part (AP4014182) that only sticks out 3/4 inch from the liner when the slot in the crisper drawer frame is only 3/4 inch deep? Second, why would part AP4014182 push/slide into a hole in the liner? It's the part that slides onto the stud (which, along with AP4014182, AP4070209 is supposed to replace). Third, how does AP4070209, which looks to be less than 1/4 inch wide, keep the crisper drawer frame , which has a slot in it to accept the support that's about 3/4 inch wide, from moving forward and backward when the crisper drawer is opened/closed?
Answer Hello Tom. To answer your first question, part WP61005050 is a repair kit used if your support broke off and damaged the inner liner. If your inner liner is not damaged you will only need to order part # WP12603701. Second, the way the support was designed is something we cannot control and is determined by the manufacturer. Third, the manufacturer provided this part as a repair kit, only if the inner liner has been damaged. To properly use the kit you would slide the hook end into the inner liner and place the support on the flat end. Thanks! Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, May 5, 2011
