Carlos M for Model Number WFE320M0ES0 I have a Whirlpool Electric Range that the "Cooktop ON" idicator light stays on. It happened ever since a storm we had the other day we lost power then when it came back that light stays on. I have already tried powering down and waiting then power up again. What part do you recommend I change? I was thinking to just change the indicator light but the same thing will still happen won't it? Maybe replace a switch? Also is the range safe to use for now?
Answer Carlos, This issue would be caused by a faulty infinite switch. You can disconnect the purple wire from each switch and test from the terminal to chassis of the unit to see if there is 120 vac at the terminal. If there is then this would be the issue.
